About Donna Nikander, DNP
Boulder Bioidentical Hormone Doctor, Donna Nikander, DNP is a Doctor Nurse Practitioner (DNP) who has practiced Integrative Medicine for over 30 years. As a Nurse Practitioner, she is board certified in both Family Practice and Psychiatry and has been successfully treating men and women from the Boulder, Longmont, Broomfield, and surrounding Boulder County Colorado areas.
Dr. Nikander received her Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner with honors in Family Medicine from the University of San Diego. She received her Nurse Practitioner Practice Doctorate with honors from California State University with a specialty in Health Leadership, Research and Higher Education.
Additionally, Dr. Nikander received her Post-Doctoral certification in Psychiatry at Washburn University and National Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with a sub-specialty in Integrative Psychiatry and Dual Diagnosis Addiction. Over the past 25 years, she has completed post-doctoral course work and certifications in Functional Medicine and Transpersonal Psychology.
Dr. Nikander practices Integrative Medicine-Psychiatry that is rooted in Mindfulness and Transpersonal Psychology, which fosters self-awareness and insight. She also practices Integrative Functional Medicine, which identifies the physical functional imbalances.
These dual practices of Integrative Psychiatry and Functional Medicine are used to identify underlying causes and to personalize therapeutic treatment to reduce or reverse chronic symptoms and illnesses.
After seeing literally a dozen physicians and spending a lot of money chasing alternative treatments, I was still low functioning due to complicated health issues. I took a chance with Donna six months ago, and it paid off because I’m feeling good and enjoying life again!
